The art group meets at 2pm on the 2nd Wednesday of every month . Drawing and painting for beginners and improvers.

The venue is Jenny Maxwells house at 14 Humpries Close

Seven members of the Art Group held their first meeting at the WI Hall. All agreed it was a light and airy venue with a much larger table to spread out on. WE all spent an enjoyable afternoon practicing drawing eyes. At the next meeting we will continue practicing drawing facial features, this time the nose and mouth.

The next Art Group meeting will take place in Carterton WI Hall on Wednesday 13th June from 2pm until 4pm.

Pat Ward will be taking over as Art Group Leader when Jenny Maxwell leaves to go on her travels.

Last month we spent our time doing 5 minute drawings of each other. Every body enjoyed this so much that we are repeating the excercise at our next meeting on April  11th the last meeting to be held at 14 Humphries Close.

As from May 9th our art group will meet in more spacious quarters at the WI Hall. No experience is necessary, just a willingness to try your hand at weilding a pencil or paint brush. New people are always welcome.

This month at the Art Group 7 members enjoyed a lot of banter whilst drawing and painting grapes and glass as in the pictures. Our next meeting is on Wednesday March 14th at 14 Humpries Close when we hope to find someone to sit for us, so that we can practice life drawing.

If you would like to sit or stand for us (clothes on) we will treat you to coffee and biscuits.

A few hardy individuals turned up to paint last wednesday. The subject chosen was Mountains – a bit difficult but not impossible (though the first voiced opinion was “I can’t”). After looking at the dramatic mountain paintings by Heaton Cooper and many photographs, the group all tried, learnt and produced very creditable mountain scenes.

Our next meeting will be on Wednesday 8th February from 2pm – 4pm at 14 Humphries Close. Subject to be decided. We will always welcome new members

This months meeting was well attended. We all had fun trying to paint and draw a Bonsai tree belonging to one of our members. Our next meeting will be at 14 Humphries Close on Wednesday 14th December at 2pm. A Christmas Theme will be our subject . New members always welcome.

 This month the Art Group practised highlights and shadows using charcoal to draw old boots. It was a good exercise which everyone enjoyed.

Our next meeting will be November 9th from 2pm-4pm at 14 Humphries Close

This month the art group was sparsely attended as it clashed with another U3A event however we all managed creditable paintings of either a rose or an orchid. Next month our meeting will be on October 12th , 2pm-4pm at 14 Humphries Close when our subject will be Still Life.

We had one new person join the Art Group since my appeal for more bodies. The last two sessions providing lots of both painting , drawing and chatter.We have been doing simple figure drawing. The photo shows our latest attempts.
