Cycle Ride on Monday 23rd April 2012

On a morning when rain was threatening 5 members turned out for this cycle ride.  We repeated the ride which we had completed in February and managed to get almost back to for a coffee break before it started to rain.  Coffee was very welcome and allowed us time to warm up.  Our next ride is on Wednesday 16th May.

Cycle Ride 13 March 2012

6 members met in the centre of Carterton together with their bicycles.   We welcomed two new members Jo and Janice.  The ride was a reversed circuit of our first ride, with two small deviations.

Ian kindly lead the ride as Pam is injured and unable to ride at the moment.

It was a grey and cool morning but we all met at The Co-op after the ride for a warming drink and a very good natter. Thank you Ian and a reminder our next outing is on Monday 23rd April at 10am.

Cycle Ride on Thursday 23rd February 2012

There were 5 members on this ride.  We started from the centre of Carterton, cycled up Burford Road and then round Upavon Way to the Corbett Road roundabout.  From here we cycled 500 metres towards Alvescot and then turned across Willow Meadow, which was a first for some members.  At the end of Willow Meadow we turned left and cycled on the perimeter path of the airfield, emerging into the Crescent and then down Milestone Road.  To extend the ride we cycled down Pampas Close, Wycombe Way, over the iron-bridge and back through the centre of RAF houses in Stanmore Crescent.  The last leg of the ride was down Burford Road to the WI Hall for refreshments.  We all had drinks and most a yummy cake (highlight of the morning I think).

The next ride will be on Tuesday 13th March.

Looking forward to seeing you all again then ready with your bicycles.  Pam

9 members met in the centre of Carterton for our first cycling ride.  Quiet a lot of chatter and laughter took place before we began our ride.  Most of us were wearing cycle helmets and reflective jackets; Ian led the 4 mile ride with Pam bringing up the rear.  Our route took us up Burford Road, Swinbrook Road, Kilkenny Lane, down to Brize Norton and then back up the Brize Norton road to the centre of Carterton.  The WI coffee shop coffee morning was taking place and they were invaded by “The Bikers” where we all relaxed with a with beverages and cake. The next ride will be of similar distance and then we hope to venture a little further a field.  The next ride will be on Wednesday 8th February at 10am from The Factory Outlet Car Park.

Great fun was had by all. Pam

The Cycling Group had its initial meeting this morning and we are planning our first cycle ride on Thursday 12th January 2012 starting from the Factory Shop car park at 10.00am.

It will be a local cycle/ride? And stopping for coffee somewhere on the route.
